BONNY WROBEL, CPA serves as Principal and the Firm's Principal-in-Charge. Bonny has been with our organization since February of 1998 and is an honor graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Central Florida. Bonny is an extremely capable and talented individual. Bonny’s excellent technical and communication skills have made her a true asset to our organization. Bonny is a member of the AICPA, FICPA, and other civic/community organizations. She is also regarded as an outstanding instructor and has been a leader in our continued education program. In her spare time, she enjoys her family including her 5 grandchildren and loves to golf.
ALEX H. KISH, CPA, PFS, CFF, CFE, CGFM, joined BMC CPAs in 1976 and serves as the Director of Accounting and Auditing Services, and the Director of Marketing and Promotion Services for the firm. He earned an accounting degree from Florida State University. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Kish is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and has earned the AICPA’s accredited Personal Financial Specialist designation and the AICPA designation of Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). Mr. Kish currently serves on the Board of Directors of a local SEC registered Volusia County bank, and serves as the Chairman of Its Audit Committee. He is a past President of the New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Oak Hill Chamber of Commerce and a past Chairman/ Commissioner of the Southeast Volusia Hospital District. He has also lectured nationwide on accounting, auditing and financial disclosure requirements for the Government Finance Officers Association.
SHANNON MEYER, CPA joined the organization directly following graduation in January 2007 and has been involved in providing comprehensive accounting services within the organization, including individual, corporate, and partnership income tax returns, audits, compilations and reviews. She received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Central Florida. She is energetic, responsible and detail oriented. She is passionate about helping her clients and providing high-quality services. On a personal side note, she enjoys the outdoors and traveling to the mountains with her husband and son. She also loves to run and participates in a variety of local 5k events within the community.
TOM FORD, CPA is an alum of John Carroll University, majored in Accounting. Along with being a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Ford is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), Florida Government Finance Officers Association, and various other committees. He has over 27 years of public accounting, auditing, tax and consulting experience providing professional services to a variety of industries including construction, real estate, manufacturing and local government units. In addition, he has also served as the Controller for a homebuilder/developer in Ohio and as Director of Accounting for a large real estate lessor/ developer located in Lakeland, Florida. He has experience in providing auditing services to several local government units in Central Florida. Has extensive involvement in the establishment of quality control systems and oversight in the firm-on-firm peer review process for many firms that he has been associated with as well as the enhancement of financial reporting quality.
JAMES CARLSTEDT, CPA has over 25 years in public accounting. Jim oversees the office’s tax and accounting services. He specializes in providing tax compliance, tax planning, and QuickBooks implementation and support for clients in a variety of industries. He received a BBA in accounting from the Stetson University.
TONY DE SANTIS, CPA joined BMC CPAs in 2013 as managing partner. In addition to his accounting and tax background, Tony has developed a broad range of knowledge related to complex governmental and nonprofit accounting and reporting. To enhance his CPA background, Tony developed skills as a business system analyst, executive coach, and diversity trainer. Tony received a BBA and Masters of Accountancy degrees from Stetson University. He has also worked on a theology and pastoral counseling degree with the Washington Theological Union.
JEFFREY JONES, CPA is a managing partner at BMC CPAs with over 35 years of experience in public accounting and tax preparation. He serves as a Registered Principal of Lion Street Financial at JK Jones Financial Network and holds a Series 7 securities license as well as the Certified Wealth Consultant designation. Jeff works with a wide range of business in terms of size, entity, and complexity providing accounting, tax, and investment services. Jeff has his BBA from Stetson University and his MBA from the University of Dayton.
SHAWN HIGGINBOTHAM, CFP® has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years. He has worked with everyone from active traders placing complex equity and options trades with a focus on risk management to Private Clients where he assisted high net worth clients develop detailed financial goals and constructed diversified investment portfolios to accomplish those goals. He holds the Certified Financial Planner™ and Professional Plan Consultant™ designations. Shawn is a multi-generation native Floridian living in Apopka, Florida with his wife C.J., who owns a marketing and creative services firm, and their dog Barracuda. Their son Zachary recently graduated from the University of Florida with his B.S. in Food and Resource Economics.
ROSE SCHMOTZER, EA joined the firm in 2000 and serves as a Senior Accountant for tax, auditing and accounting for small to mid-sized clients. She also consults with new business startups to ensure that owners meet their various tax and accounting compliance-related requirements. Rose graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and holds an Enrolled Agent status to practice before the Internal Revenue Service.
BURT BAUER has been in public accounting and tax preparation for over 24 years, having joined the firm in 1993. While not really related to the accounting field he holds degrees in liberal arts, computer programming and data processing as well as architectural design and drafting. He is almost a native of New Smyrna Beach, a devoted family man and huge Orlando Magic fan. He enjoys the simple pleasures of life which include boating, muscle cars and bicycle riding. He is looking forward to retirement one day and being able to explore old and new interests and being able to do more traveling.
MATTHEW TRAINOR is a native New Yorker, growing up near Niagara Falls. He was active in the Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He moved to Florida and joined the firm in 2017. Matthew received his Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting in May 2012 and his Masters of Business Administration in Professional Accountancy in December 2016 from Niagara University. Matthew is currently serving as a senior auditor in our firm.
ALYSON CASTRO is a staff accountant at BMC CPAs, Inc. and currently resides in Bunnell, FL. Alyson began her career working as a bookkeeper for her husband’s company while attending Daytona State College. After graduating with honors and receiving her Bachelor of Applied Science degree, she continued her educational pursuit and is currently enrolled in the graduate program of accountancy at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Integrity, respect, dedication, and personal morale are four simple, yet extremely valuable concepts that she has learned to live by and continues to express in both, her personal and professional life. One of Alyson’s career goals is to finish the remaining academic requirements to sit for the CPA exam(s) and become a licensed certified public accountant.
HEATHER DENNEY, Office Manager, Heather joined BMC CPAs, in August of 2008. She started with us as a receptionist and is now our office manager. When she is not taking care of our BMC family she enjoys cooking, reading and taking care of her family. She has been married for 25 years and has one daughter that will graduate from the University of Florida in May of 2018.
LISA ANDERSON started working for BMC CPAs in December of 2014 as our receptionist/administrative assistant. She holds an associate’s degree in accounting from Lorain County Community College in Ohio. Before coming to BMC CPAs she worked at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. Prior to moving to Florida in 2004, she worked for the Amherst Exempted School District as a paraprofessional and also a bus aide. Before getting married she worked for an Optometrist office and right out of school she worked for Lakeland Glass Co. She has been married to Darryl since 1990 and they have 4 children (3 girls and 1 boy) and 7 grandchildren (3 girls and 4 boys). She enjoys traveling to see her family in Ohio and Massachusetts, reading, crocheting, and long distance running. About a year ago she added a Glen of Imaal Terrier puppy to the family who keeps them busy with obedience, trick, and agility classes and participating in Fast CAT (a 100 yd. dash for dogs).
LOGAN DENNEY, Security Specialist (of the K-9 variety), Logan joined us in May of 2016. He is a rescue dog from Florida Pointer Rescue of New Smyrna Beach. We believe he is a Black Labrador, Italian Greyhound mix. He generally spends his days wandering the halls of BMC and making the difficult decision of where to nap between three different dog beds. He also enjoys barking at random noises, chewing squeaky toys and demanding treats from our staff.
